Liposuction surgery is not a substitute for weight loss, but it’s a safe and dependable way to remove localized fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise.
At Liposuction, surgeon will make tiny incisions near the area where the excess fat will be removed. Then, insert a thin vacuum tube through the incision, into the deep fat layer. The tube is gently moved back and forth, breaking up the fat and suctioning it out of the body.
Liposuction usually takes between one and two hours to perform. The time required, however, may vary depending on the target area and the amount of excess fat being removed.
After liposuction, most patients can return to work and routine activities within 1 week. An additional 3 weeks is required before you resume strenuous activities, exercise, and sports. You’ll need to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks after your surgery.
The best liposuction candidates are: • Healthy adults within 25 pounds of their ideal weight (For patients with larger amounts of fat an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck may be appropriate.)
